After start-up and lining-out of the unit, it is important to conduct a performance test run to determine whether the performance complies with the plan. The feedstocks fed to the unit therefore need to be in accordance with the original plan. Stable conditions must be ensured and the unit performance needs to be assessed by measuring throughput, operating conditions and product properties to determine a mass balance under different operating conditions. If the performance test run was a part of the enquiry document, the supplier will bear some degree of responsibility for meeting the guarantee and may want to be present during the test. It is important for the catalyst inspection, loading and start-up reports to all be available for review.
