The contaminants on the spent catalyst need to be analyzed to correctly classify the spent catalyst as a waste for transport and to select the reclaimer offering the appropriate process and best reclaim conditions. Sometimes a spent catalyst needs to be stripped of hydrocarbons and/or regenerated to reduce carbon to a low enough level acceptable to the reclaimer’s process, or to be cleaned of mercury. By offering a relatively clean spent catalyst for metal reclaim you can choose from more reclaimers and thereby get a better commercial proposal.
